　　I've been in Cambridge Young English School for three years. I've learned a lot here. I got to know what's english and how to read english. Teacher Li was hard because of us. We didn't listen to him when he began to teach us. And he couldn't do anything else but shout Attention!

　　畢業(yè)了，感想特多，但其實畢業(yè)這段時間想得最多的就是英語專業(yè)的出路問題。雖然本人因為缺乏信心和膽量從而選擇保研這個最中庸而省事的道路，但我的許多同學(xué)皆因最終出路問題，絞過不少腦汁也有過n夜的掙扎。最后有一大半的同學(xué)選擇了考研，當(dāng)然這其中還不包括保研的。究其最根本原因，無非是理科學(xué)校english majors找工作實在是難。這點在今年尤為明顯，一是因為現(xiàn)在英語人才爆炸，阿貓阿狗的都會來幾句;二是因為99年為第一年大規(guī)模擴招，僧多粥少啊!!其實現(xiàn)在市場上對于英語人才的需求還是蠻大。但問題是真正學(xué)的精的人少之又少，大多數(shù)人還是浮于表面。到最后真正純粹靠英語糊口的人已然不多，大多數(shù)人都轉(zhuǎn)去搞別的了，比如外貿(mào)什么的。

　　我細細想了想，完全和英語接軌的就業(yè)渠道有這么幾種:

　　一，高校英語教師。要做英語教師我個人認為不是很難，難就難在如何當(dāng)好一個英語教師。因為就我個人觀察，有很多人選擇做老師這一行多是因為待遇穩(wěn)定，以及一年兩次的假期。其實做老師可以輕而易舉的天天混著，生活安閑也沒有什么壓力�？墒侨绾握{(diào)動學(xué)生的興趣如何最大限度的利用課堂時間，這絕對不是很容易的問題。尤其在大學(xué)里，沒有了高考的壓力，老師要混日子更是輕松的很，在英語系就更別提了，上課光放放片子也可美其名曰多媒體教學(xué)。然而問題總是雙面性的，也恰恰因為沒有了高考的壓力，更多的學(xué)生對大學(xué)老師的教學(xué)方式也變得更為挑剔。所以，在這樣的情況下如何讓學(xué)生覺得你的課worthwhile便需要花不少精力了。(補充;還必須強調(diào)的是，現(xiàn)在要在高校當(dāng)老師，文憑這個敲門磚不可少，我畢業(yè)的時候?qū)�這一點認識還不是很深刻，以為英語專業(yè)畢業(yè)的最后總有一個救命稻草就是當(dāng)老師，說實話，剛?cè)胄５臅r候?qū)�這條路是頗為不屑的，現(xiàn)在看看形勢，稍微入流的大學(xué)都要求博士生。所以，研究生便又處于一個高不成低不就的尷尬階段!其實學(xué)習(xí)語言學(xué)的研究生其研究的內(nèi)容對于教學(xué)并沒有太大作用，但是現(xiàn)在門檻節(jié)節(jié)拔高，想當(dāng)老師也只能節(jié)節(jié)往上爬。許多局外人對于英語專業(yè)研究生還有很大的誤解，理所當(dāng)然地認為只要上了研究生英語技能就比本科生高，我想再次聲明英語專業(yè)研究生注重的是研究能力，而并非提高基礎(chǔ)技能，包括翻譯，學(xué)習(xí)的也是理論，而且不是技巧方面的理論，是純純純純的理論!!!)

　　二，翻譯。外行人一聽外語系學(xué)生的名號就覺得你理所當(dāng)然的翻譯很棒。其實，我個人認為要成為真正的翻譯好手是相當(dāng)難的。首先，英語技能必須扎實，這點當(dāng)然毋庸置疑，然后中文功底也必須深厚，這點也頗為明顯，翻譯者本來就是個橋梁，因而橋梁兩邊的風(fēng)景都得熟悉。不過中文畢竟是母語，再怎么次，好歹也能把話說清楚。英語要掌握的那么地道就不那么容易了，這就是為什么現(xiàn)在中譯英的譯者比較難找，待遇也比較高的原因。ok，除了對中英語言的掌握以外，一個人的綜合知識也相當(dāng)相當(dāng)重要，可以說和語言掌握能力處于相同的地位。為什么這么說呢?相信做過翻譯的人都有這樣的體會。翻譯原文中稍微涉及到某專業(yè)的知識，翻譯起來就頗不順手。尤其當(dāng)該領(lǐng)域?qū)δ銇碚f完全陌生時，原文在你看來也只不過是一個個孤立的單詞。其實有時候，原文并不屬于非常專業(yè)的文章，只不過里面有幾個單詞或詞組涉及到政治，經(jīng)濟或其它領(lǐng)域。其實對這領(lǐng)域稍加熟悉便能輕松應(yīng)付。因此這就要求譯者的知識面要相當(dāng)廣泛，任何領(lǐng)域都應(yīng)稍加涉獵。樣樣懂點皮毛，樣樣卻都不精，這樣的評語并不能說是完全褒義的。但對于英語專業(yè)的學(xué)生來說如果能做到這一點對于其翻譯工作卻有著莫大的幫助。其實拓寬的現(xiàn)代社會，現(xiàn)在屬于知識爆炸的時代，新生事物不斷涌現(xiàn)，若能正做到這一點也已經(jīng)非常不錯了。唉，其實我個人就相當(dāng)佩服那些知識面廣的同學(xué)，欣賞他們的博學(xué)和侃侃而談的瀟灑。而我就不行了，只對自己有興趣的話題感興趣，像政治，經(jīng)濟，體育什么的，我對其了解程度真的是少的可憐哦!!!所以，這次廢話中的一個精華建議就是—努力積累，積極擴大自己的知識領(lǐng)域。這句話不單單是對那些想從事翻譯工作的同學(xué)說的，同時也對所有人適用，當(dāng)今社會這點真的相當(dāng)重要。這也是提高自身修養(yǎng)的一個重要方面，尤其在社交場合，你能根據(jù)不同的交談對象輕松的從腦中數(shù)據(jù)庫調(diào)用出相關(guān)信息，然后侃侃而談，讓你的魅力值急劇飆升。(嚴重警告;請注意在侃侃而談時不要因忘形而造成吐沫飛濺。)呵呵，我這一扯就扯遠了，我回頭看看我該說什么了。哦，翻譯!!反正，做翻譯應(yīng)該是英語專業(yè)畢業(yè)生干本行的一條途徑，其實也是個頗能賺錢的行當(dāng)(呵呵，年紀不大但已經(jīng)有銅臭味了)。

　　可惜自稱能做翻譯的人多了，可真正能成為行家的卻又寥寥無幾。我曾經(jīng)思考過這樣一個問題，英語專業(yè)學(xué)生和其他專業(yè)英語學(xué)的好的學(xué)生，兩者做翻譯誰更有優(yōu)勢。結(jié)果是，如果為專業(yè)性翻譯，英語專業(yè)學(xué)生絲毫無便宜可占，反倒是相關(guān)專業(yè)中英語學(xué)的好的同學(xué)，再稍加訓(xùn)練，做起本專業(yè)的翻譯反而得心應(yīng)手。英語專業(yè)學(xué)生的優(yōu)勢無非是英語掌握的比較扎實，做起文學(xué)翻譯等非專業(yè)性翻譯優(yōu)勢比較明顯�？墒菍�業(yè)性英語，如經(jīng)濟英語和計算機英語，固定的詞條往往有固定的翻譯，外行人恐怕很難翻對，即便想強行翻，資料便得查個半天，而且往往費了那么多事最后錯誤率還極高，悲哀啊悲哀。所以，你如果想從事專業(yè)翻譯，光學(xué)英語是絕對不行的，還得另學(xué)專業(yè)知識，當(dāng)然，你不必理解的多么透徹，但至少，基礎(chǔ)的東西不可少。如果想從事文學(xué)翻譯，嘿嘿，你也得掂量掂量自己的中文水平哦，反正我常常是看懂了英文的意思，可是卻找不到恰當(dāng)?shù)?中文，那種滋味，唉，真是憋得慌!!!所以我一度對翻譯喪失信心。

　　其實我覺得語言這東西還真是講究點天分，你還不能不承認。但除此之外我們能做的就是練，翻譯也是這樣。其重要性不言而喻，至少對英語專業(yè)的人來說是混飯的道路之一。那么怎么練??嘿嘿，我又要說廢話了--自己一段段翻譯。其實這真是傻瓜都明白，可類似我這樣的傻人一類總想摸索些所謂的捷徑。于是乎，我也買了幾大本翻譯技巧書，期望在看完前人的經(jīng)驗后便得道升天。只可惜，前人的經(jīng)驗看完了，它還是前人的，基本合上書后便不留下一絲痕跡。再說了翻譯技巧中那么多的條條框框，誰能在翻譯時眼前頓現(xiàn)如此多框架??所以哦，還是得練。那么如何練?我認為應(yīng)該閱讀前人經(jīng)驗和自己實際操作相結(jié)合。只有自己做了才能深刻體會到技巧的高妙，才能在下次遇到類似句型時立刻想到運用相關(guān)技巧。而且在翻譯中通過對不同方法的捉摸和比較，我們也能自己摸索出最佳的翻譯方法。具體說，我覺得應(yīng)該選一本配有練習(xí)的翻譯書，每天翻譯一篇，然后將自己的譯文和參考答案相對照。仔細捉摸不同之處，分析參考譯文的優(yōu)點。如果有翻譯分析，那當(dāng)然就更好了。最后，將那些值得注意的地方以及自己總結(jié)出的技巧用筆記本記錄下來。這樣印象絕對深刻。而且這比任何翻譯技巧書任何翻譯教程都有用。其實自己親自翻譯是最有用的英語學(xué)習(xí)之道，這不僅僅就翻譯技巧的提高而言，而且你每翻譯一段文字其實是對該文字的徹底消化，無論是英文語法，句式結(jié)構(gòu)還是文章的具體內(nèi)容!反正，翻譯是最全面最徹底的英語學(xué)習(xí)方法!!!

　　有朋友此時想問了，即然你將翻譯練習(xí)說的那么神奇，那么你堅持多久了?呵，呵(注:苦笑聲)，千萬不要因為我打了這么多字就忘了我的本性—一個懶人!!!唉，其實我也是堅持了兩天的，還用紅筆注出我譯文和參考譯文的不同之處，后來因為紅筆筆跡太多，而且翻譯過程又太痛苦，就又放棄了。直到現(xiàn)在還沒有勇氣和毅力再重新開始，汗顏哦。不過，你們一定要相信我，這樣的練習(xí)方式絕對會使你的翻譯水平有大幅度提高，當(dāng)然，前提是你得堅持!!兩天速成是不可能的，我本人不就是個鮮活的例子嗎??

　　反正話說那么多了，是非對錯還得看官您自個兒分析，您說是這個理不?當(dāng)時我練習(xí)用的是上海外語教育出版社出的《高級翻譯教程》，就是英語高級口譯資格證書考試系列書之一，孫萬彪，王恩銘編著。這本書和其他翻譯教程不一樣，沒有專門講授翻譯技巧，而是通過對一篇篇短文的翻譯和講解來進行實例分析。每單元一開始就是一篇文章，你可以先自己翻譯一遍，翻譯過程中有不懂的單詞和用法可以參照文章后面的words and expressions。然后和參考譯文對照，找出差別，然后結(jié)合notes and explanations分析這些不同之處，并總結(jié)經(jīng)驗。我感覺這本書這樣用應(yīng)該能達到編者預(yù)期的效果。如果只是生看，那你其實在做課文分析!!!ok，希望有志之士能照我這辦法練習(xí)一段時間，我不敢說你的翻譯水平能在多短時間內(nèi)得到提高，但堅持數(shù)年必有好處。另外，向大家推薦兩本我們?nèi)握n老師向我們推薦的兩本翻譯教程。都是比較老，但據(jù)說是比較經(jīng)典的，有興趣朋友可以買來看看。英譯漢她推薦的是上海外語教育出版社出版的《英漢翻譯教程》，張培基，喻云根等編著。嘿嘿，看看年代1980年9月第一版，至今已經(jīng)翻印了三十幾版，可見其經(jīng)典性了吧。還有本漢譯英也是上海外語出版社出版的，名為《漢英翻譯基礎(chǔ)》，主編;陳宏薇

　　上次談到做老師和當(dāng)翻譯，其實英語專業(yè)的學(xué)生還可以在一個領(lǐng)域拓展自己的優(yōu)勢，那就是—英文寫作。雖然很多英語專業(yè)的同學(xué)提起英文寫作仍是一幅苦不堪言的樣子。但畢竟相對非專業(yè)的同學(xué)而言，我們多了四年的專業(yè)訓(xùn)練，還是有優(yōu)勢可言的。現(xiàn)如今，我們口語的戰(zhàn)場已一步步淪陷，越來越多的非英語專業(yè)生的口語技能不得不讓我們這些科班出生的人汗顏。不過，這也是一種趨勢，而且口語這東西，只要苦心練習(xí)，必定有所成。但寫作就不一樣了，它需要一定時間的專業(yè)培訓(xùn)，一些規(guī)則和格式都需要練。當(dāng)然我不否認非英語專業(yè)學(xué)生也能通過自己的努力來提高自己的寫作水平。敢問什么事不能?但畢竟相對于口語而言，寫作并不為那么多人所重視，而且練習(xí)寫作遠遠要比練習(xí)口語復(fù)雜的多。而英語專業(yè)的學(xué)生由于接觸英語畢竟比較多，而且也有過幾學(xué)期寫作的專業(yè)訓(xùn)練，因而在英文寫作上還是有優(yōu)勢可言的。但俗話說師傅領(lǐng)進門，修行靠個人。如何將這個優(yōu)勢擴大，才是我們需要面對的問題。雖然有優(yōu)勢，但寫出來的東西還是不令人滿意，仍然不能符合要求，那么這種優(yōu)勢就根本不能叫做優(yōu)秀。如果想靠寫作來混飯吃，當(dāng)撰稿人或編輯什么的話，就必須—練。呵呵，還是老生常談。其實，英文寫作是最能反映一個人英語綜合水平的，這就反映在你寫出的東西是否流暢簡潔，是否像篇英文的東西。聽起來簡單，但做起來是多難啊。這就是為什么英文寫作一直是眾多英語學(xué)習(xí)者的心病�？梢赃@樣說，如果你能自如的寫出比較地道的文章，那么你對英語的掌握就已經(jīng)很深了。而且為什么現(xiàn)在做翻譯中譯英遠比英語中難?就是因為理解中文意思容易但要將其轉(zhuǎn)換為地道的英文，那就難了。所以如果英文寫作能力比較強的話，中譯英的能力也會相應(yīng)提高。

　　其實，做老師，翻譯或?qū)懽�，這三條路都不好走。能走的人比較多但能真正走好的人不知能有幾人?我個人認為還是做高校老師最容易混日子，絕對是大實話。如果要做翻譯的話，我認為如果你中文功底不是相當(dāng)深厚，最好不要做文學(xué)翻譯，絕對是件痛苦的事!但如果要做其它專業(yè)翻譯的話，建議在閑暇時間多學(xué)學(xué)專業(yè)知識，只要專業(yè)知識在手，我們翻出來的東西還是要強于非專業(yè)生的。現(xiàn)在口譯讓人感到是個很時髦很賺錢的行當(dāng)。但大家要做好思想準備，壓力絕對大。每次口譯前都要做大量的準備工作，閱讀大量的相關(guān)知識，就像全身換了一次血。

　　The farmers got richer by planting vegetables and raising silkworms. In their houses there were colour TV sets, fridges,washing machines, new furniture and even motorbikes. All these showed the farmers' life was getting better and better.
